                    Antigone Compare & Contrast

In the  tragic play of Antigone written by Sophocles is about two characters that don't get along which are Antigone and Creon , Antigone a young girl who would do anything for her brother to be buried properly even if it means to break king Creon's law. Dealing with there similarities and differences it will not lead to good things.

There are differences between Antigone and Creon. Antigone is loyal to her family Antigone said "I will burry the brother I love" (2.69).She is also loyal to the gods , she told Creon that  " he has no power against the laws of the gods " (2. ). Creon is Loyal to the state. He said "as long as im the king no traitor is gong to be honored with the loyal man "(2.50). Creon is not loyal to his family. He was telling Choragos " Oedipus , Eteocles and Ploynieces have killed each other , and as I ,  next in blood , have succeeded to full power of the throne "(2.15)

Antigone and Creon share a similarities. Antigone is full of pride and says "Creon is not strong enough to stand in my way "(1.35) what Antigone is trying to say is that no one is going to stand in her way , not even the strongest person. Creon also has some pride for himself and said " if we must loose lets loose to a man , at least ! Is a woman stronger then we ?"(2.36). What he is trying to say is that he prefers to loose to a man than a woman , also he is trying to is that no woman can stand up to a men because they are "men".

In conclusion , its both of Antigone's and Creon's fault for the tragic outcome in this play. Its Antigone's fault because she disobeyed the kings' law. Also because she could have talked it out with Creon , and made an agreement. But overall its mostly Creon's fault because if one brother was buried with honors why couldn't the other one be too. And nothing would  be happening to Antigone and Haimon if Creon would have been fair and loyal to both deaths.
